Discover the interior design project, signed Caterina Alferova, in which the Old Line kitchen becomes the heart of a hi-tech flat in the centre of Moscow
"It was important to have furniture that combines modern and luxury, worthy of the majestic history of Moscow and the flat, but with a hidden hi-tech soul".
This was the principle behind the interior design of a luxurious flat in central Moscow, which designer Caterina Alferova described to us.
Together we talked about the incredible project realised in this flat and her career as an interior designer.
Let's take a look at the project together.
Located in a historic district of Moscow, the 180-square-metre flat is housed in an avant-garde ‘Club House’ that blends perfectly into its architectural surroundings.
For the interior, Caterina Alferova was inspired by the Art Deco style, reinterpreting it in a modern key with elegant lines, fluid textures and fine materials that blend tradition and innovation.
When we asked her what the client's specific requirements were, the designer replied:
"He wanted an ambience with intense colours, dark but not gloomy, that would convey luxury without being heavy. For this, I chose materials such as marble and backlit onyx to add liveliness and light to the rooms".
Another key element of the project was the use of antique brass details, cleverly integrated into the floor and furniture. "The antique brass plates, inserted into the floor, reflect the metallic finishes in the kitchen, woodwork and chandeliers, creating a common thread that ties the different rooms in the house together," Alferova continued.
These metallic touches, together with the use of noble materials such as marble and fine wood, give the interior a sense of continuity and stylistic coherence, ensuring a sophisticated and unique result.
The kitchen is more than just a space for cooking: it is the heart of the home, where friends and family gather, often in preference to the dining room. For this reason, the customer wanted the kitchen island to become the hub of domestic life, replacing the traditional dining table. The soft, welcoming lines of the island, designed to promote comfort and conviviality, make the space perfect for both preparing meals and spending time with friends. The solid wood kitchen, custom-made by Old Line, thus combines aesthetics and functionality in a perfect balance.
The appliances, concealed in the columns behind elegant display cabinets, remain easily accessible, but are fully integrated, in line with the customer's request to have "technology hidden behind dolce vita". This feature is one of the pillars of the design: an integrated functionality that does not obstruct the elegance of the interior.
One of the most appreciated aspects of Old Line production is the ability to customise every detail. Each element is tailor-made to harmonise with the style of the home. Alferova, enthusiastic about our flexibility and quality craftsmanship, chose Ebony finishes for the kitchen doors, matching them with the Nero Marquina marble of the floor. "The Ebony finish harmonises perfectly with the elegant and contemporary style of the flat" says the designer.
We also supplied the woodwork for the living room and bedroom, ensuring a uniform look throughout the flat. The craftsmanship of our carpenters allowed the creation of bespoke solutions that, as Caterina explains, "cannot be replicated with other materials and techniques, guaranteeing a unique level of exclusivity."
One example is the complex work carried out for the living room. It was not easy to match a state-of-the-art TV, with a steel base, to the backlit onyx panel that dominates the room. We designed a custom-made open base, designed to recess the TV's technical box and hide the cables of the home cinema system. The 45-degree beveled edges, finished with a sophisticated sanded pewter aged mater metallic finish, give the base such a refined look that it looks like "the stuff dreams are made of, rather than wood," says Alferova.
A result that combines craftsmanship and innovation in perfect balance.
The choice of materials and Made in Italy solutions played a key role in this project. Caterina Alferova emphasises: "Old Line's solutions are distinguished by their excellent quality and ability to meet the client's specific needs."
The feedback from the owner of the exclusive flat was positive. The final project reflected his expectations, combining luxury, comfort and technology in a perfect balance of tradition and modernity. "They were thrilled with the final realisation, which fully reflected their expectations, combining luxury, comfort and high technology," explains Alferova.
Behind the scenes of this project is Caterina Alferova, a Moscow interior designer with a long career in the Made in Italy furniture industry. Having graduated in Art History in Moscow, Alferova has developed a strong passion for Italian design, working with prestigious brands and bringing the best of Italian craftsmanship to her creations.
For her Moscow flat, she chose Old Line, fascinated by the brand's ability to combine the warmth of wood with advanced technology.
"I have always considered Italy as an inexhaustible source of inspiration,’ she says, ’Italian design combines tradition and innovation like no other, and this is what convinced me to choose Old Line for this project."
Caterina Alferova's project in this luxurious home in central Moscow speaks of design, exclusivity and the priceless value of customisation, all with timeless style and a hidden technological soul. The Incanto Old Line kitchen has become the true heart of the home, embodying beauty, functionality and craftsmanship in a perfect balance of luxury and technology.
